Shaldon Beach.
Shaldon and Teignmouth are great Bass venues; schoolies abound in the channel fished 1 hour either side of low water, larger ones are seen too. Parking friendly also, at both venues.
Tips for Shaldon - use the car park serving the Ness pub reasonable car parking charges and free after 18:00, a bit of a slope from the car park to the waters edge but not too bad. Try to fish in front of pink railway hut.
Tips for Teignmouth - use the car park car park right on the waters edge, reasonable car parking charges and free after 18:00. Ideal for the less able angler as only a short levelish stroll from the car park, fish the end of the spit.
Also anglers can be seen on the beach or rocks either side, but I have very little info on these areas.
Live sandeel available from Wrigglers shack, on the Teignmouth side. Reasonable price for a load of eels.
Likely Species:
Bass,Gar, Mackerel.
Chance of catching:
Bass are the targeted species
Best Baits:
Live Sandeel, or white artificial eels,
Rigs:
1 metre trace with a small weight, cast across into the gulley up river when tide going out, to sea when tide coming in to maximise time in water.
Dangers:
Lots of people fish here in the summer so it is often crowded, a lot of people wear waders to gain extra casting length, from the Shaldon side there is a ledge so if you do wade in be careful. .
Directions:
Both locations are easy to find, head for the Ness for Shaldon or the left hand of the S.A.E at Teignmouth.
